No, I don't think your car would be legal for SCCA Improved Touring if you did that - you can't interchange parts between models. The rule book is available here http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=44
Unfortunately they also won't let you swap a 1.8T in place of the PG/supercharger, unless you want to get into some very uncompetitive class. Sad, really, as a 1.8T Corrado is very quick.
I was thinking of doing a similar project with one of my Corrados. Have you raced yours yet and is it competitive in its class. Any new info on your car build up. thanks
We didn't race it in 2009 due to some engine problems, but hopefully that is resolved now; we have high hopes for the car being competitive in ITS in 2010. I'll try to update the blog soon with more info on the build.
So to reply to Max, actually with the new rules the swap you describe would be legal, as long as the two chassis are basically identical (which I'm not sure of), and as long as you swap all the VR6-specific parts onto the G60 chassis. In short, you have to make it indistinguishable from a VR6 car...
